Day 1 (13 June '08)I had hardly fallen asleep when my mother woke me. It was only 5 a.m! I think i only slept for 4 hours! The day before, i went to bed at 1 a.m, because of the last-minute packing and the waiting for my hair to be dried(i showered before going to bed). Oh yes!! And the scones!! My mother tried making some scones the day before we left! She reckons that we would get hungry along the journey to Pulau Tioman, Pahang, Malaysia. So she made a truckload(not literally) of scones! There were cheese scones, sultana scones and plain scones for everyone aboard(there were a total of 40 people going with us, i think) Scones and scones! (these are not all the scones we made) ![]() ![]() By 6a.m, we were all ready and lugging our bags down the steps, sadly, there wasn't any lift near my home. I wish that they would build lifts somewhere, and stop at every floor! Other than the problem of trying to drag our luggage down, there was another problem because of my mother's constant nagging at us to hurry up as we were late. We were supposed to get to my Mum's office canteen(this is a tour organized by my Mother's friends) by 6! And it was already 6a.m! When we reached there, my mother began to stray away from us and started talking to her colleagues. As for my brother and i, we were much left out so all we did is stare at everyone else so say 'hi' to some uncles and aunties who walked past. Soon, our bus arrived. My brother was so exited about the bus that he kept talking all the way while everyone else were trying to lug their baggage up. He was exited because the bus had an imprint of The Singapore Bird Park on it. Sigh, he is still behaving like a kid when he isn't. And so we travelled, and its pretty boring on the bus because the only thing you can do is either to sleep or to look out of the window(looking out is boring too because all you see is palm tree, another palm tree, a baby palm tree, a COCONUT, a palm tree, and another, and another...) Once we reached the jetty(it took us at least 3 hours of travel from Singapore), we waited for some time for the boat to arrive. By that time, i was getting hungry. At the same time, i wished that i hadn't eaten my share of scone so hurriedly. Now that we arrived at Pualu Tioman, we had some people to take our luggage to the resort. Well, this was funny. All along, we people thought that it would be a resort, but it wasn't. Our group leader, Uncle Tan(so as we called him), said that he tried to book a better place to stay but the other hotels and resorts were fully booked, so we had to stay in some almost broken down chalet somewhere near by. Singaporeans are usually fussy, so almost everyone started complaining about the toilet seats, the television(there was only one control to the TV and that is in the caretaker's room, so whatever he wanted to watch was on TV. It was really irritating when you suddenly found a nice programme on TV but you cant watch it because the channels keep changing). As for me, i found the place quite comfortable already. So long there is a functional air-con, a nice bed and no mosquitoes, I'm happy already!! Who cares about TV and black-coloured toilet seats? It was around 3.00 in the afternoon so we decided to explore the place. Not the entire Pulau Tioman. P.L was somewhat the size of Singapore itself. We were only at one part of the island, which was the Paya part. Paya was quite uninteresting, since the place is rather small and all you can do is but satay, snacks, drinks and eat Ramlee burgers. So we(a group of 11) decided to trek to the other side of the island. The eleven of us got ready by 3.00 and walked up the hill. We had to get past a hill before we could reach to another part of P.L. The eleven of us were: My mum, dad, brother and i, Mr Wong, another Mr Wong's family of 4 and Uncle and Auntie Low. Mr Wong's wife, Auntie May, was very funny indeed. As the little hill that we were supposed to climb was rather rocky and steep, with loads of leaf litter(leaf litter makes the trekking worse as it makes the path slippery), she keep screaming like crazy and that looked very funny. Imagine how she looked liked when she finally came down on the other side of the hill! Her hair was flying in all directions! It made me think of some...AHHH, i wont say it. If you really want to know what the hill looked like, it was like climbing the steep rocky part of Rock Path of Bukit Timah Hill. Even it was hard for me, actually not really. All i had to do was just to step on the rocks and pull myself up(try avoiding the leafy places) LOL! It was so fun that i wanted to go and climb it every single day after, but i wasnt allowed to. My mum says i'm crazy as that place was rather dangerous for a single person to climb alone. I think that she is rather paranoid about climbing that hill since she fell once.. After dinner, the people who ran that chalet and those who cooked for us went rather crazy. They started taking out their portable TV and played all kinds of old chinese songs with beats that sounded like ta-ta-TA-ta-ta! Lol! ___________________________________________________________________ Day 2 (14 June '08) |
